What better way to ring in the New Year than with a new beginning!
Liz and Josh were married on New Year’s Eve at Saint John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte. Since sunset is so early this time of year, we set up a “first look” at Talleyrand Park before the evening ceremony. The weather was cooperative (no snow or rain!) and we were able to get some photos of the bride and groom and the wedding party in Talleyrand and in front of the Centre County Courthouse before heading to St. John’s. The church was still beautifully decorated with Poinsettias and lights for the holiday season (a bonus for any holiday wedding), and Woodrings Floral Gardens did an amazing job of adding to the holiday decor! After a beautiful ceremony, Liz and Josh exited the church through a tunnel of sparklers to the waiting limo, and we were off to the reception at the Ramada Conference Center in State College. It was a wonderful night full of family and friends, with the DJ, Justin Hill, keeping the dance floor full, a delicious cake (as usual!) from Delectable Delights by Heather Luse, - and lots of New Year’s Eve party favors They ended the night with a live video feed of the Times Square countdown!
Michele and Corey were married at the Inn at Edgewater Acres, a lovely Inn nestled in the South Central Mountains of Pennsylvania. After the ceremony, which was held out on the lawn overlooking the water, the bride and groom snuck away for a few moments before returning through a flurry of bubbles from their families and friends. The water made a beautiful backdrop for the family photos and photos of the wedding party. We also got some great shots of the newlyweds alone before heading inside for the reception. The entertainment was provided by Local Motion Entertainment, and the floral design was from Daniel Vaughn Desings - amazing, as always. Congratulations Michele and Corey!
We were very happy when Erin and Jeremy asked us to photograph their wedding! We photographed Erin’s sister’s wedding in 2008, so it was nice to see so many familiar faces. They were married at Toftrees Resort on the croquet lawn and their reception was held in Le Papillon. It was a bit chilly that day, but the weather held and they were able to have the ceremony outside like they had been hoping (they actually live in Minnesota, so a little chill in the air is nothing to them!). After dinner, we were able to snag the newlyweds for a few photos of just the two of them before they headed back into the reception for an evening of fun and laughter with good friends and family. We’re glad we could be a part of it!
It’s always good to have a change of scenery once in awhile… We first met Kristen when she was in a wedding we photographed in 2009, so we were thrilled when Kristen and Josh contacted us to see if we could photograph their wedding in Harrisburg. Of course we said yes immediately! It was a bit cool that day, but after a beautiful ceremony at the United Church of God, we headed to the Capitol for some photos. When we got there, we found that the fountain was pink (in honor of breast cancer awareness) – and it matched the bridesmaids’ pink sashes on their dresses! We got some nice shots there and then it was off to the Holiday Inn East for the reception, which included some great toasts (check out the photos below!), a little cake smashing, and lots of dancing. It was a wonderful day!
Lauren and Josh were married at First United Methodist Church in Huntingdon and their reception was held at Lake Raystown Resort. After a lovely ceremony, they were greeted by their guests and lots of bubbles outside the church before a long limo ride to the reception. We stopped off on the way at a scenic spot along the lake for some photos on the pier – it provides a beautiful reflection in the water and a wonderful mountain backdrop. Then it was off to Lake Raystown Resort for the reception. Both Lauren and Josh love the outdoors, so the tables featured some beautiful, rustic centerpieces. The night was full of dancing (Lauren is a dancer, so there was a lot of dancing!), but we managed to sneak the newlyweds out to the terrace for a few lovely end of the night photos – a wonderful way to end a great day!
We had a wonderful time with Lisa and Ken on their wedding day! We went our separate ways before the wedding – Vicky with Lisa at the Inn on the Sky (a beautiful bed and breakfast nestled in scenic Penns Valley), and Jim with Ken at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. After a beautiful ceremony, the newlyweds exited the church to bubbles and took a short trip to the Nittany Lion Shrine and Old Main for some photos before heading to the Mt. Nittany Inn for a small, relaxing reception of close friends and family. The floral design was by Avant Garden and the delicious cake was made by Delectable Delights. There were even special cookies made by Ken and Lisa – Ken and his mom used to make them, and now Ken and Lisa make them together. It was a great day and we are thankful to have been able to share it with so many wonderful people – it was like we were part of the family!
Thanks for having us and congratulations Lisa and Ken!
We first met Amanda and Kyle at Amanda’s sister’s wedding in June of 2010. We were very excited when they asked us to be their photographers, too! We enjoy photographing weddings for siblings, especially because we already know many of the family members and guests at the wedding We met Amanda and Kyle at the Nittany Lion Inn for some getting ready photos before the ceremony at the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center on the Penn State campus. After an exit to ringing bells, we were off on a campus tour to the Nittany Lion Shrine, Hintz Alumni Center, and Old Main. Then it was off to the reception at the Nittany Lion Inn, which was beautifully decorated by Woodrings Floral Gardens. It was a great reception, highlighted by a custom made “duck hunter” cake and a very interesting take on the garter removal (you’ll have to check out the video slideshow!).
Jessica and Tom were married at Toftrees Resort on a beautiful (rain-free!) day. Since we were doing formal photos and a quick campus tour before the ceremony, we arranged a “first look” for just the two of them – although they did have some spectators peeking out the windows . After Jessica and Tom spent a few wonderful moments together, we were off to Beaver Stadium for some shots on the field! We finished up at Hintz Alumni Center before heading back to Toftrees for the formals and the ceremony on the croquet lawn. The newlyweds were able to enjoy their cocktail hour and we were able to get photos of Le Papillon before the reception began. It was beautifully decorated by Avant Garden, the delicious (and beautiful!) cake was made by Delectable Delights, and the music was provided by Local Motion Entertainment.
Congratulations Jessica and Tom – we had a great time with you and your family and friends!
We’ve known Danielle and Tim for a little while now – we photographed Tim’s sister’s wedding and he and Danielle were both in the wedding party. It’s always fun to see so many familiar faces at a wedding! After the ceremony at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte, we headed to Talleyrand Park for some wedding party and newlywed photos – Danielle chose to go barefoot for a while and it made for some fun shots and video. Then it was off to the reception at Toftrees Resort, which was beautifully decorated by Woodrings Floral Gardens. DJ Eric Stoner of Nittany Entertainment kept Tim and everyone else on the dance floor all night!
Among other things, butterflies symbolize new beginnings – a perfect symbol for a marriage – and there were butterflies everywhere for Deanne and Joel’s wedding at the Arboretum at Penn State. After a beautiful ceremony, the newlyweds and their families and friends released monarch butterflies to celebrate the occasion. A few even landed on the bouquets so we could get a close-up look – they seem to have enjoyed the flowers from Daniel Vaughn Designs as much as we did! Then the couple and their wedding party hopped into a few classic cars and headed off to Hintz Alumni Center for more photos before the reception at the Ramada Conference Center. The room was beautifully decorated by Daniel Vaughn Designs and the cake from Delectable Delights by Heather Luse was amazing (as usual!)… and it had butterflies on it, too!
