State College PA Photographer – Kate and Dan’s Wedding

Kate and Dan were married on December 29th at the Nittany Lion Inn on the Penn State Campus. It was a cold, clear evening (one of the coldest in December!), but it was warm and cozy inside, with a candlelight ceremony to set the mood. We took a very quick trip to the Lion Shrine for a few photos after the ceremony and discovered we couldn’t really work our cameras while wearing gloves, so the gloves came off  (it’s still hard to work the camera with numb fingers!). The girls even sat on the Lion in their dresses (with no wraps or sweaters), which must have been cold! We took just a few more shots under the soft glow of the streetlamps before returning to the warmth of the Inn. Then it was off to the reception full of fun and dancing, with DJ Jeff Helffrich keeping the party hopping. What a way to end 2009!

Kate and Dan, we had a great time with you, your wedding party, families and friends – thanks for having us!

Jackie and Dan – Wedding Photography in Oakmont, PA

Filed under Weddings • Written by vjmStudios @ 2:59 pm

Jackie and Dan were married November 14th at the Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, PA. Since the ceremony was held after sundown, we did most of the formal photos beforehand. It’s always fun to arrange a “first look” moment between a bride and groom – in this case, Jackie came down a wide staircase to find Dan waiting at the bottom (and us as well, shooting photos and video!). We had just enough light to do the formals outside, and still have some time with Jackie and Dan alone as the light faded into the warm glow of the country club.
After the signing of the ketubah and a beautiful candlelit ceremony under the chupah (yes, Dan broke the glass on the first try!), the cocktail hour and reception began. After some hilarious toasts by the best man and maid of honor (primarily revolving around college stories that couldn’t be shared in public!), the celebration began in earnest.
Dan is the third member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity we’ve had the pleasure to work with – we photographed Leah and Mark’s wedding on May 9, Virginia and Adam’s wedding on August 29th, and now Jackie and Dan. It was especially nice to see so many of the same gang at each wedding, and this is the third time we’ve seen the magic carpet ride dance!
Jackie and Dan, thanks for choosing us as your photographers – the two of you, your families, and your many friends were a pleasure to work with!
p.s. any more Lamda Chi Alpha brothers tying the knot soon? Give us a call – we’re becoming experts! :)

State College PA Photographer – Tracy and Nate’s Wedding

Filed under Weddings Tags: , — • Written by vjmStudios @ 10:09 am

After an amazing engagement session in September, we were really excited for Tracy and Nate’s wedding – they are just wonderful together! They were fun, spontaneous and VERY romantic for the engagement session, and even more so for the wedding! Their ceremony was held at Grace Lutheran Church in State College, PA. We knew it would be a great wedding the moment we saw Nate’s face as Tracy’s father walked her down the aisle – it was pure joy as she reached him at the altar. (Check out the photo below!) The reception at Toftrees Resort was full of fun, laughter and lots of dancing – and an especially “fun” beginning for Nate’s dance with his mom! (Be sure to check out the video slide show below!)

A wonderful couple and a wonderful wedding – congratulations Tracy and Nate!!

State College, PA Portrait Photography – Shelby’s Senior Photos

Filed under Portraits, Senior photos • Written by vjmStudios @ 10:41 pm

We were very excited when Shelby’s mom called to set up her Senior session – she’s a senior at Penns Valley High School (that’s our school district!). We’ve known Shelby for a few years now – she’s a dancer at Kennedy Dance Centre, and we’ve photographed her many times before. Shelby is also a PV cheerleader, and we figured she would be totally at ease in front of the camera – we weren’t disappointed! We even had the opportunity to get some artistic dance photos in the studio before we headed out to the Military Museum for a few outdoor shots. The November weather even cooperated with us to give us an all around great day. Thanks Shelby!

State College Wedding Photography – Kim and Joe’s Wedding

We photograph quite a few weddings in Eisenhower Chapel on the campus of Penn State University – lots of alumni come back to Penn State to get married. The weather wasn’t supposed to be very nice for Kim and Joe’s wedding there on October 24th, but it turned into a beautiful fall day by the time the ceremony began. Usually the chapel is a difficult place to photograph because it is a bit dark, but the sunlight streaming in the windows made us very happy :)
After the formals, we headed to the Lion Shrine for a few photos atop the Lion, and then to Old Main. The fall colors on campus were spectacular, the mix of sun and clouds made for perfect photo conditions, and the wedding party was easygoing and fun to photograph!
Our final stop before the reception was Fenske Lab, where Kim and Joe spent way too much time – they are both chemical engineering grads. That’s not our usual type of background for wedding photos, but we’re always up for anything! We even learned what a condensation tube was (okay, we still don’t know what it does or if we even got the name right!!)
The reception was held at Celebration Hall in State College. In anticipation of Kim and Joe’s entrance, the guests were lifted from their seats and encouraged to do the “wave” by the Nittany Lion Mascot (ok, not the real Lion, just a guest dressed in a Lion mascot suit!). The remainder of the evening was just as much fun – lots of eating, drinking, dancing, and celebration. Congrats, Kim and Joe – thanks for choosing us!

Jen and Tom’s Wedding in Foxburg, PA

Filed under Weddings • Written by vjmStudios @ 1:27 pm

Jen and Tom were married on a spectacular fall day in historic Foxburg, Pennsylvania. When we first met Jen and Tom last fall, we knew we would enjoy getting to know them – they are a great couple! We were happy to travel out of town for their wedding – new surroundings keep us on our toes! The ceremony was held at the Episcopal Church of our Father, built in 1881 – one of the more unique places we’ve had the good fortune to visit. After the ceremony, we stopped in downtown Foxburg for a few photos along the Allegheny River. The reception was held at Riverstone Farm, where a wine-themed reception awaited the guests. We can sum up our day in a few short words: a wonderful couple and a wonderful day! Thanks, Jen and Tom for finding us last fall!
